Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

Teacher: Miss Chapman
Teaching assistants: Mrs West and Miss Winn

PE days: Monday and Wednesday (children must wear their correct PE kit to school on these days).

In Year 3, we are role models to the rest of the school.
We promote attitudes to be 'READY' to learn, 'RESPECTFUL' to everyone and 'SAFE' in our community.

Reading and spelling record books must come into school on a daily basis. We expect the children to read three times a week

Please see below where you will find a copy of our timetable along with other important and useful resources :)

Please contact me with any questions or queries through the school office and I will aim to get back to you within a day.

Terms One and Two

The Victorians

Throughout the autumn term, the children will be focusing their learning on three key outcomes:

  • I can put key Victorian events in chronological order on a timeline.
  • I can compare and contrast the life of a Victorian child to my own life.
  • I can communicate my understanding of the Victorian era using a variety of sources.

This a fantastic topic in which the children will really be able to develop their understanding of a key part of British history throughout the following activities:

1. As a historian, I am learning to make predictions about Victorian artefacts.
2. As a historian, I am learning to explore Victorian children's toys.
3. As a historian, I am learning to order the events of a timeline.
4. As a historian, I am learning about life as a child in school.
5. As a historian, I am learning to compare my home to a Victorian home.
6. As a historian, I am learning to compare modern-day streets to Victorian streets.
7. As a historian, I am learning to compare modern-day food to popular food.
8. As a historian, I am learning to order when popular inventions were created.
9. As a historian, I am learning to showcase my knowledge of the Victorian life.

There are various resources on the internet for the children to look at so any research around this is definitely encouraged. However, in order of taking a closer look at what the children will be taught, please see their Knowledge Organiser below.
